We began
developing a new business venture upon our return home. We were young,
full of energy, liked helping others, and wanted to do as much as we could to
help other people. We were very fortunate and liked to do what ever we
could to help people that need and deserve a helping hand.
My wife and I discussed this
thoroughly, and decided to make this one of the the platforms of our new
business venture. Both of our parents had always taught us, it is better
to give than receive. We are passing this philosophy along to our children. This
is probably why we are perfect for each other. At that time in our life,
we didn't know what philanthropy was. We just enjoyed doing whatever we
could to improve the lifestyle of others whenever possible.
Over the next
three years we each worked an average of 80 hours a week to build our current
businesses and increase the value of our assets. We were very fortunate in
having the support of our family and friends. We were successful in reaching our
goal and decided to move to the Caribbean to begin our venture. We
researched every island and country in the Caribbean, then made a choice.
We sold all of
our interests, and prepared to begin. We were too young to retire and do
nothing, and wanted to do more to help make the world better. We began
developing a completely self sufficient exclusive luxury resort that would be
part of our overall development.
We contacted
cruise lines and ship brokers. We made arrangements to survey retired
cruise ships that could have their cabins converted into condos, residences, and
vacation homes for use at our resort. We quickly found that these cruise
ships were retired and no longer wanted by the cruise lines due to their age.
They were not good for our environment, had a high cost of refitting, a high
cost of rebuilding, and high cost of operating. We considered buying many,
to build condo cruise ships, and then re-focused on our ultimate goal.
The only way to
do this properly, is to build a new twin hull residential cruise liner having
amenities, services, and accommodations for people that share our beliefs and
family principles. A place for fellow philanthropists to be let loose and do the
most good possible, everywhere in the world. A place to live, a place to retire,
with the option to perform humanitarian services.
We were
developing businesses that would eventually supply an income source to fund the
building of a new, twin hull residential cruise liner.
Our ambition and determination will prove to be beneficial. |
